Our History
Greeting From The Chair
Dear IEEE Members,
Thank you for your interest in joining IEEE.!
Because of the involvement of people like you, IEEE Tanzania has played and is playing a pivotal role in helping Academicians, Researchers, Consultants and Other Stakeholders transform over the past decades into one of the most respected professionals in the areas they belong.
Since our founding in 2007 we have focused on directing toward the advancement of the standing of the members of the professions it serves; such as conducting publication of surveys and reports on matters of professional concerns, collaboration with public bodies and with other societies for the benefit of the Engineering, Science, Technology and Innovation professions as a whole and the general public, and the promotion of ethical conduct.
Since then, the most important project we have been doing is strengthening academic activities, which is the mission of the organization. In a period of two months this year we have already secured enough members to establish 3 students’ chapters at Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science & Technology (NM-AIST), College of Information & Communication Technologies, University of Dar Es Salaam (CoICT – UDSM) and Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT).
We have held an IEEE AFRICON 2021 which is an IEEE Region 8 Flagship Conference on the African Continent in September last year and will hold a Students and Young Professionals Summit (SYPS) in August this year with Egypt, Libya and South Sudan. We will hold a National Conference by accumulating our experience of participating in international conferences. In addition, we will promote the publication of the journal and establish our own Technology Television.
As a non-profit organization that you can trust, our work is only possible because of generous contributors, volunteers and sponsors. Donate or Partner with us today to help this work continue.
And feel free to drop me a line at chairman@ieeetz.org.
Let’s Advance Technology Together for the Benefit of Humanity!
